We all know that sandals and horses are a dangerous mix, but one rider suffered the consequences of her choice of footwear in the summer of 2017. While it may be tempting to pop into the barn in your summer footwear, Ellie Brown, daughter of Hickstead director Lizzie Bunn, was turning out two mares when one of them spooked. Resulting in the loss of a toe and what she described as excruciating pain.
