FEI Rio 2016 - Rudolpho Riskalla
Dressage Against All Odds
In 2015, dressage rider Rodolpho Riskalla contracted life-threatening meningococcal meningitis. A bacterial form of meningitis, it is a serious infection of the thin lining that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Despite amputation of both feet, and losing all the fingers of his right hand, and some fingers from his left hand, Riskalla returned to the saddle on January 2, 2016, less than five months after falling ill.
